The Belgian Royal Family and the Cello

06/01/26 The Belgian royal family has a special connection with the cello. As early as 1835, Belgian cellist and composer François Servais was appointed “Violoncellist to the King”. Other renowned cellists, including Jules de Swert, Joseph Servais, Elisa de Try, Edouard Jacobs and Pablo Casals, also maintained close ties with the Belgian Court.

Discover the full story in a free exhibition at Flagey, presented by the Servais Society during the first round and semi-final of the Cello Competition (from Monday 4 until Saturday 16 May).
